UNITED NATIONS HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL
AGENDA OF UNHRC
Discussing workers' rights and child labour with special focus on the copper and cobalt mining sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo
Presenting to you, United Nations Human Rights Council.
The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) is a principal organ of the UN General Assembly dedicated to addressing human rights issues globally.

The mining industry in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is plagued by significant human rights challenges, including exploitative labour practices and the pervasive use of child labour. Workers, including many children, endure hazardous conditions for minimal remuneration, facing serious health risks and lacking basic protections. Addressing these issues is paramount not only for safeguarding human rights but also for promoting ethical sourcing practices and sustainable development across global supply chains.
